Essential Care keeps eyes on your yacht
Essential care is not a stripped-down version of service. It is a weekly maintenance routine: a licensed captain aboard your boat every week, sea strainers cleaned on schedule, a bi-weekly wash, and a written account of what is found. Full management adds long-term planning and further oversight, not more attention.
What is covered
Three commitments, on schedule, every month of the year the boat is in our care. Nothing here is conditional on the weather being convenient or on you asking.
Your weekly check
Your yacht is visited once a week, bilges, dock lines, interior, and the yacht's overall state is noted.
Sea strainer maintenance
Strainer baskets are pulled, cleaned, and reinstalled after the housing is scrubbed and free of debris. This small piece of preventative maintenance ensures all systems can operate when called upon.
The bi-weekly wash
A full wash-down is completed bi-weekly, using only products compatible with the vessel's finish.
Who can benefit from essential care?
Essential Care suits the owner who appreciates managing their own work, vendors, and maintenance plan. Essential care relieves them of the repetitive tasks yacht ownership entails, while allowing them to be actively involved in their vessel's care. You get time back to work on what matters to you, while knowing a trustworthy crew member is handling the rest.
It also suits an owner who wants to see Vantage work before committing to more. Most owners start here. Moving up to Full Management is a conversation, not a new contract negotiation, and the maintenance history moving into the owner portal comes with you.
If your yacht charters, is dual season, or demands white glove care, Full Management may be a great fit.
What Essential Care does not include
- A written and executed preventative maintenance plan
- Vendor management: sourcing, scheduling, meeting, and overseeing the trades on your behalf
- Boat opening and closing around the season
- Post-trip washdowns on top of the bi-weekly schedule
- Captain services, repairs, deep cleans, provisioning, and concierge, which are billed for time at any service level
Anything on this list can still be arranged for an owner enjoying essential care. If the above services interest you, a full management plan may be the best fit.

- What day of the week does the check happen?
- The exact day of the week can be determined during onboarding and stays consistent throughout the season.
- Does Essential Care include a report?
- Yes. Every visit at either tier finishes with a written report and photos, and is logged in the YachtWave portal. Reporting is not an upgrade.
- Can I hire a captain with the Essential Care plan?
- Yes. A licensed captain for deliveries, outings, owner training, fuel trips and more are available for all owners. Captain services are billed separately.
